That's a South American Puffer c. asselus, a species very prone to dental overgrowth.

Figure eight puffers don't do well in marine conditions long-term. (even though Pixie looks very healthy)
Is it possible he can be moved to brackish?
 
Hi,

Can't move him at the mo no more room for tanks(have 6 already)

He seems to be thriving in there,when we got him he was in FW in LFS and looked awful.He has been in there for over a year.How long before it gets dangerous for him?

Definatly a F8. Not necessarily dangerous, it's just a shorter lifespan. In low-end BW, they can live 18+ years. A qhile back a man named robert T Ricketts took a bunch of F8s & kept them in individual tanks, adjusting different parameters. This was during a 10year period.

As far as the teeth--if he's having difficulty eating: can't open mouth enough to get food in, spitting out food, food getting stuck, then trimming is in order.
