I occasionally feed my fish maggots (that I use for fishing).

Never thought about this, once forgot about some left over maggots and when i opened the box - hello flys lol.

Another free source of live food is mosquito larvae. They are extremely easy to collect, you just keep a bucket of water outside and when you see the rafts (floating groups of eggs) just scoop them out and put them in a jar with water. They will hatch in a couple of days and you only need to transfer them to your tank. \

This only works in areas where they don't spray for them, but nonetheless it is a great food source.

i tried some prawns for the first time, my fish were seriously unimpressed, barely any of it got touched.
