Anybody know what kind of fish I could get that will be compatiable with my current ones? I'm definately getting another clown loach as tigger (yes I named it!) is all on his owneeo at the mo and rather shy  .

I'll be moving my smaller fish - tetras and possibly swordtail to a smaller 2ft 60litre tank once its set up to avoid them getting munched as the others get bigger

I think that moving the tetras will be a good idea, however clown loches can get relly big and IMHO 100ltrs is not big enough for the group of 5(at least) that you will need.

I'm no expert on clown loaches so maybe someone with more knowlage will confirm/deny this :dunno:

I disagree, you could keep dwarf chain loaches or pakistani loaches in a tank that size, but I wouldnt reccomend keeping more clown loaches as your gourami and angelfish will out grow the tank as would the clown loaches.

Why not just get a bigger tank? :p

Bunji, I don't think anyone said there could be no loaches in there.

I would think about getting a new tank if you want to keep clown loaches. You need at least 3 of them in a group and as you know now they get very large, as do angels.

How large do clowns get? I'd like some in my 170litre (120cm*40cm). Three if possible. These guys eat algae right?

Well!!! None of those I think! Huge things.

What decent small fish could I get that sucker onto the glass? (Thought this was what they did when eating algae)

Some otocinclus, or a small (!) algae-eating pleco such as a bristlenose.

It's a 4ft long 100litre tank!!!! so I think my clown loach should be ok and I'm only planning on getting one more. I'm pretty sure you don't need to get 8-12 loaches in a tank for them to be happy! besides that wasn't really the question I was asking.... it was the what other kind of fish I might be able to get that would suit the current residents?

In reply to Helium Junkie - Small catfish/pleco's could be introduced to ur tank for the algae eating problem but it won't solve it entirely you'll still get algae and it depends on your other fish in the tank size wise.

Oh I dont have a problem.... yet :p I just thought thats what they did when they were sucking, and I want some sucking fish :D
Its not so much the algae, just I want sucky fish :*)

:)

100litres @ 4 foot? Can you give all the dimensions? :)

I noticed that. My 4ft tank is 48" x 12" x 18" and is 160litres.

Maybe it's bigger than you think?

Also, I didn't see anyone saying you need 8-12 to make them happy but you do need a group of 3+. I have 4 in my 5ft (320l) tank and I am worried about them getting to full size in there. :/

HJ, I have otos and got them purely because the are gorgeous little sucky fish!! They are great, algae or no algae just feed them wafers and tablets of needs be. :D

They get to 8-12", need to be kept in groups of three and do not eat algae.

:p
 Sorry I read it wrong!

The tanks measurements are .... 48x12x14.5 and thats uk litres not american
I'm trying to post a pic of my tank but I can't find the file attatchment option at the bottom of the post it's dissapeared!!! :/ Anyone know how to get it back on? i read summat about enabling admin?????

Ah 136L  to be honest I don't know the equation for working out volume and although I gave the measurements when I first came on this forum I kept getting different answers from everybody so I emailed Dragonslair who told me that it was 100l so I just went with that, it sounded right coz I just bought a smaller 60L tank that I'm about to set up. I cannot for the life of me work these calculators on any links/sites. Maths was not my best subject when I was in high school and that was a while ago so my brains rusted even more since then!!!

I'll try posting the pic stay tuned for 5mins!!!
