Hi guys.

I'm new to this hobby (recently bought a new tank aquaone 600, with fish and accessories all in the deal). I transported them with out losing any fish (I have NEON TETRA, PLATY'S, MOLLIES, 2/3 other species that I cant identify and a 4 INCH PLECO.) In total, I have 18 fish in a 65 litre tank which has a 1/3 water change every 2 weeks.

The fish have been fine for 12 weeks, but recently 2 have developed a white line/fluff around their mouth with some having red areas around their gills.

Is this disaster, normal or somewhere in between?

Can it be treated and if so how?

Thanks in advance.

To many fish added to soon.

take a photo of the fish and load them onto the site.
Always research fish before you buy them.

What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Red gills can be bad water quality, gill flukes, bacterial gill rot.

Fluffy cotton wool on the mouth is flexibactor columnaris.

Read up on the nitrogen cycle.

Hi

Thanks for the tips. I didnt think it would be easy and fully expect to learn by mistakes (and plenty of them)

I bought the tank 2nd hand, so it was matured for about 6 months before I got it. The fish have not been added to.

I have just borrowed a testing kit from my neighbour (stupid .... I should have bought one myself) The results are...

ph 6.8
phh 7.4
A 0
ni 0
na 0

Do these look ok?[?]

Is the test kit liquid or test strip cards.

What your tap nitrate reading. It's rare to have a nitrate reading unless your tap nitrate reading 0 or you have live plants in the tank.
