Encourage Medaka breeding

Hello! I recently got 5 medakas, and they are in a planted pond right now around 20 gallons.
I am wondering how to make them start to breed?

I usually feed live aphids every day in the evening

Feed them 3-5 times a day. Have lots of plants in the pond. Keep the water clean. Let them do their thing. In a few weeks you will see babies everywhere.

thanks! i just found that one of them suddenly died after a really light rainfall (1hr)
what could have cuased this? water quality change?

no idea. toxic rain, change in pH or temperature. maybe the fish was going to die anyway.
