I have brown, furry algae on my Amazon Sword in particular. It's around some of the leaves. I also have a lot of brown on a couple of my fake plants and around the leaves also. I tried to remove it gently from the leaves of the Amazon Sword with no luck. Does anyone have any idea what it is or how I can get rid? I leave my lights on each day for 6 hours (4-10pm).
Thanks.

Can you post pics of it?

"Brown" makes me think diatoms, but "furry" sounds more like Black Brush algae.

Check this link Algae Guide and see if that helps identify it.

Thanks a lot Tanksalot! :hey: Yeah, it looks like the pic of black brush algae.

BBA, I hate the stuff, spot dosing with liquid carbon will kill it.

Ah, thanks Ps3steveo, I'll try that then.
Sorry Tanksalot, I can't figure out how to post pics yet.
Thanks for the help guys! :good:

Oh don't overdose tho as you can kill other plants and live stock.
