Please see my completed template below.

I think my Male Betta has Dropsy.
Should I euthanise with clove oil or continue treatment?

Do fish even feel pain?
Should I prolong his suffering?

This is my first post on the forum.
I'm an experienced fish keeper but I've never run into a case of dropsy before.

Tank size: 16L
pH: 7.3
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 30
tank temp: 28 C

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):

Laying down for four days, lethargic, won't eat, slightly grey on the belly, slightly pine coned.

Treatments used thus far:

Day 1-2: Paraguard

Day 3 - Ongoing:
Interpet Anti-Internal Bacteria (Actually the swim bladder treatment but it is the same ingredients, just double!).

Hi

Lest see if we can help.

Yes I know you have already provided some answers to some of my questions but can you please fill in the blanks?

How big is the tank?
Has it got a heater? What is it set to?
Has it got a filter?
How strong is the current?
Is it cycled?
How often do you change water?
How much water do you change?
Do you vacuum the substrate?
What additives or chemicals do you use? Eg De Chlorinator?
Do you use tap or bottled water? If bottled water please give us the brand.
Do you have a water test kit?
Can you tell us the readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
When you clean the tank can you tell us exactly what you do.
What do you feed him? how much? how often?
Any tank mates? What sort how many?
How long have you had the Betta?
Has he got a history of illness?
Any plants or decorations? Please give details?
Can you provide a close up photo of the fish?
Can you provide a photo of the tank?

Hello. I appreciate you trying to help, but I cannot understand why the necessity of all of these questions. Forgive me for being rude but I said I was an experienced fish keeper which means I know that a Betta tank needs a heater, water changes etc. Anyway, today I found it dead, I really believe it was dropsy. So, moving on.

Hi
Sorry about your fish.

If you were experienced as you say you would have known how to treat him, the questions are there to help us diagnose whats going on.

Every day I hear " I am experienced " yet when the my questions are answered there are always problems found.

Very good. If I knew there were going to be passive aggressive people like you on here, I would have stuck to Facebook groups.

All those medications, when a simple epsom salt dip would have probably done the job. Enjoy facebook.

Nick Au is right. We are just here to help. These questions could have helped us figure out what is wrong with your fish.
