could somebody give me some info on these, like max size? as im interested in keeping one, minimum tank size? ive been googleing and it states 3.1 inches max, although im still skeptical

also what would i be looking at paying for a 2"?

:erm:

ive just decided a zebra pleco isnt the best idea ive had in ages

a 14 year olds budget doesnt allow for one...

 loads of paper rounds eh? Worth it though I would reckon (not from experience, unfortunately)

Most 'moral' breeders won't let you buy a single zebra plec unless you have more (or plan to get more) to get a breeding group together.

They are an endangered species and are therefore are illegal to catch and sell!!!!

Therefore most of the fish you see these days are tank bred from breeders (not always moral ones.)

People who get into Zebs will dedicate a tank to them as they are very shy and easily outcompeted for food, plus they are rare and expensive.

Not true, no scientific surveys have been carried out to assess their numbers so they are not classed an endangered. There are however reports from fishermen who've gone to catch them and who've said that adults are very hard to find with most of the fish being juveniles, however this isn't enough to class something as endangered.
And neither is it illegal to catch or sell them, what is in place is a ban on their exportation from Brasil.

Please define a 'moral' breeder?

The exportation was what I meant.

You know what I mean by a 'moral breeder' in regard to Zebs as you have some if I remember rightly. 'moral' may not be the correct word to use but I couldn't think of the correct word to use at the time.

The fact that I own some is irrelevant when judging what you consider to be moral. We could all own zebra's but we'd still have different ideas of what is moral and what isn't.
I personally find anyone charging over about 60 quid in a private sale for a one inch fish immoral but that's just my opinion.

im after 12 to make 2 or mabe 3 breeding groups. So i hope i can get them for about 60 each! I love the fish and is why id consider myself nothing less than privelidged to be able to keep and breed them.
