Zebra Danio With Eye Problem

Hi there,

one of my grandad danio's (about 2 years old) has developed a bulging left eye. i've never seen a fish with popeye so not sure if it's that. cant get a picture, tried and failed.

it looks like his eye is about to burst. it's swollen up about 5mm away from the head, spherical still but bulging and very deep red. looks like it's full of blood. the other eye is normal.

i have been dosing with melafix (says treats popeye) for 2 days now but nothing has changed.

he's probably on his last legs by now anyway at 2 yrs old but as he's in my community tank i'm not sure of the possible contagous effects. i cant quarentine him as all tanks are fully stocked.

any ideas?

yes it sounds exatly like the description of popeye

Jim, continue the full course of melafix (7days) and it will go.
if not repete the course using pimafix too.
