Zebra dainos and cichlids

Can I mix zebra daino with a Malawi cichlid Tank. I am giving them to a friend with yellow and blue cichlids. Would they be eaten?

I had read before that you could mix danios with Malawi cichlids. I was thinking about trying "dither" fish wih my cichlids, so I went and bought half a dozen zebra danios. The minute I released them, I watched my big black mbuna swallow one whole. I quickly fished the five that were left out of the tank, and placed them in my community tank where they now happily reside. It may just have been bad luck on my part, but I won't try it again!!

Bad idea! Malawis are best kept with Malawis.

danios have a different pH need than malawis
in short no, it's not a good idea.
