Okay guys,

Have finally decided on EITHER a pair of Blue Acara OR a pair of Green Severums for my office.

In your wonderful opinions what size tank would I need in respect of each pair and what sort of set up (planted, rocky, cavey, substrate etc)?

cheers in advance

Wow, thanks for all your thoughts folks!! All your info has been really helpful. :/

i would go for a pair of severums
say 80G
sand substrate, lots of driftwood and caves and rock formations are good
plants=NO! Severums love to eat plants more then anything!

good luck

Are trying to breed the fish? If so I would agree with the 80g and you would also have room for something else as well.
Personally I like both suggested species but I've never had Blue Acaras so I'd probally go with Severums (golds are also a little more colorful or maybe you could have a green and gold which would add a lot of contrast to the tank) JMO

The standard 4 foot x 1.5 foot 75 gallon would be nice for both of them. Since Sevs are very deep bodied, I'd be inclinded to go with the taller 90 gallon version of the same thing.

This size of tank will also leave you room for non-cichlids, should you wish some.
