I knew my Raj liked the heater but didn't realize that he actually sleeps on top of it! rofl
I did a bit of cleaning in their tank earlier today and got the gunk off of the heater, but placed it a bit higher than normal.. so the top was sticking slightly out of the water.
BOY he did not like that. He kept looking at it.. which got me looking at it and realizing that it was slightly higher than it had been heh.
I eventually pushed it down a bit further.
And a few mins ago just saw him laying on top of it :p heh The top is only about half an inch from the surface.. guess he doesn't wanna travel far for his breath heh.

As for my girl Afia.. she only has her tall cabomba to lay on close to the top. She seems happy enough with it, but after seeing my boy laying that close to the top.. think I'm gonna have to find her something to lay on as well.

I've got some mopani wood in the tank with a betta shaped hole about an inch from the surface of the water. He tends to get inside there

On top of the heater?! That's adorable! I just bought a new female yesterday and she LOVES sleeping between the breeding net and the wall. She is all crammed in there, and I even thought she was trying to hide from all the other fish since she's new, but she isn't. When I move the breeding net to let her escape, she looks up at me until I put it back, but doesn't move to hide.

Mine likes to sleep on the big leaves of one of the plants(no idea what plant it is) I've also seen him hanging around the heater alot, but I think his fav spot is the plants.

Murdoch likes to float around next to the heater, which is also the side of the tank that faces the door. I think he likes to watch people go in and out...it's not unlike the reason why my dog sleeps in the chair that gives her a good view of the upstairs hallway, outside, and the living room. I don't know where he sleeps because the tank is usually too dark to see him once the lights are out. If I had to guess, it would be somewhere in the cluster of javafern baby plants or on the anubias that's right under the filter current. He tends to sandwich himself in between the leaves and the bit of plastic bottle so he can't move, but there is a constant "breeze" of water around him.

Mine either sleep between the heater and the tank or in the plants resting on the leaves, or sometimes in the caves

All of my bettas have indian almont leaves in their tanks, and they love sleeping underneath them where they can't be seen, only 2 or 3 of them don't sleep under the leaves in some way.

pacific seems to prefer burying himself under the java moss and sleeping on the bottom of his tank.
aladdin just sits on the bottom.

Gandalf sleeps between the filter and the side of the tank.
Boromir sleeps on top of the background rock.
Legolas sleeps on top of the background pebbles.
Aragorn sleeps on top of an ornament.

Rofl.. that is so cute! I was tempted to get my camera out to take a pic of Raj, but I know he would've woken up b/c of all the noise heh.

Stang, your names are awesome. My Roommates Betta (Biggie Smalls) likes to wedge himself between the heater and the side of the tank. This slightly concerns us, since we don't want him to get fried up.

Out of curiosity, when you talk about bettas sleeping, do you mean that they sit on something only, or does this imply that they actually rest for a bit and go for longer of periods of time between breaths? I would assume this would be because they're not swimming about like during most of the day... Just wondering.

Thanks!
- Chris
