Ok my dad has 4 big peices he is sticking in his tank he got them from his back garden, he has put them in boiling water, and scrubbed them but there is some algea in certain bits he carnt get it out of..

would they be ok in the tank?

its sunday morning, suggest he takes the car for a jet wash.. take the stones and blast them too

i usually let things dry in the sun before adding to the tank, dunno if it will stop algae growing back tho, what did he wash them in? ( bleach can be used BUT hneeds a long rinse and then dry)

may also interfere with the PH of the tank, so u might SUGGEST .. he keeps an eye on that

And he scrubbed them in just boiling water. I think he will give it a go and see how it is

aye cant see any harm as long as he wasnt using pesticides in the garden, i grab lots off the beach and rinse them and chuck ( not literally) them in, no harm has come of it ( touch wood)

YES in an African tank NO in a South American tank.

African Cichlids require more alkalinity tanks

South American require more acidity tank
