Ok so Hurricane Sandy came through yesterday and about 20 minutes ago our power came back on!

Well....I automatically check my tanks, glad to see that everyone made it with out electricity/filtration/heaters...
Was checking everyone and I see activity in the back of the tank...I see a pile of eggs!
Two of my German Blues paired up during the storm and laid a clutch of eggs. I guess the temperature swing got them going.

Okay...now I was not at all prepared. Where they are now, in the community tank, I have little hope of them surviving. Both parents seem to be taken turns fanning and chasing the other fish off.

If I move the parents with their driftwood into my 26 gallon bow, will the parents continue to care for their eggs or will the move traumatize them and make them abandon/eat them?

Will moving the eggs out of their tank kill them?

Most likely the rams will probably eat the eggs first few times they lay.

Good to hear everything went well with your tank.

There is some good news at least theyve started spawning and theyll continue
to spawn.
so maybe if you leave them too it theyll get it right and once they start rearing
properly then move them when there fry using a hose hoover them up into a bucket
and transfer them into your other tank.

Im currently waiting on my kribs to get it right ATM so ill leave them to it until
theyve got parenthood down before i even consider moving the fry to another tank

i can't help you much but i wanted to say.....
CONGRATULATIONS!:band:
those are beutiful fish by the way

I read somewhere too that if you can help it don't expose the eggs to the air as it will/might kill them, someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The eggs are gone. Oh well, this weekend I will set up the 26 gallon for them and see what happens.
