brilliant bet you can`t wait, when will your tank be ready and make sure you have afew good test kits to check your water first. (key to success is good quality, clean, soft water)

yeah i am getting new test kits because my other ones are getting bad
i started cycling on sunday so probably in the next three weeks i will get the discus but ill get the black skirt tetras and plecos before.
i also got a saltwater tank set up today now we hae to wait another three weeks to let that cycle until we get fish. it makes me so mad i hate having to wate.lol

i know that is the worst part, boring boring boring , i clone my filters now cause i can never wait that long and discus need a mature set up. You must post some pics of the finished set ups

Like adding a mature filter from another tank staright into the cycling tank, heaps it do it wuicker. Or in turn you could get a real messy filter from a cihlid tank and squeeze all the gunk into the tank. That'll help it.

yep, or sometimes run a new filter in another tank for a few weeks while i`m getting stuff together for new tank, if i`m not in a hurry.

You are right mystix212 that is cloning and the best way to do it. i only run 2 filters if i have time

Please don't rush things and add your discus after only 3 weeks. Calm down and slow down. Get the tank cycled then add your tetras, this will easily tank a month or so. Then add your plecos, I'd be tempted to add one every 2-3 weeks. Then I'd leave the tank for another 2-3 weeks then introduce the discus.

Also have you researched the water requirements of discus and found out what your supplier keeps them in?

With discus you have to be very patient. From the moment you put the water in, a good 2-3 months should be the amount of time before you place the discus in.
