Hey Gang,
My mate who offered me the 15gallon also has a 4ft tank. When i asked him about it last night, he said it was no longer in use and was sitting in his shed. I asked him about it and he said i could take if for nothing. I asked my mum if i could have it last night and it was a firm NO!
However today i picked up my exam results, because ive been moved around schools alot in the last few years my predicted grades plummeted down, so we werent expecting much maybe just enough to scrape my way into college. When i opened the letter and read the results, They were very good :D :D :D And mum said i was aloud a treat. I brought up the tank and after slight hesitation she said i could :D We are going to pick it up saturday. I dont know the exact measurements but ive seen it before and its big enough for me  It comes with the hood and light. it had a stand but its no longer reliable so i already have a replacement. Im going for the same plan i used in my other topic, just this time i have a bigger tank. :hey: Just thought id share the good news, Now doubt i will be asking for help with filtration stocking when i have the exact measurements.
Thanks Dan

Firstly, congratulations on the exam results...that's excellent!
Secondly..... 4 footer..... nice!! Can't wait to see it set up!

Thanks everyone :D Ill diffently keep you updated with pics and how its getting on :D
Ive been harrasing The riccia man (Jimbooo) With lost of questions for the rekord 60. Im pretty confident with this being my first planted tank and everything going smoothly.
Yep Im diffently suffering from MTS :p Although im pretty sure i wont be allowed anymore after these two additions, so im going to try my hardest with the 4footer and try and get it looking at least have as nice as some of the tanks ive seen here.
Now im just waiting until saturday :hey:

Edit: Thanks for your kind comments on my grades. It was a nice surprise :)

Fantastic......Good Exam results and a new tank.
Good luck and enjoy your new tank. :D

Most of my mates have decided to go and get a full-time job than further education so theyve decided they wont have time for their tanks. you wouldnt believe the amount of times id been offered tanks in the last couple of months.
Ive been offered the 15gal and the 4ft tank and took them but before them and before i decided i wanted another tank id been offered two 6footers another two 15gals and another 4footer.
Im just going round all of their houses and scaving bits and bobs  . Ive managed to get hold of a nice piece of bogwood. A few nice pieces of slate and some filters, which hopefully i can use for for the 4ft. So setting up the 4ft wont cost much :D
Sylvia maybe if you live in england i can get you a 15gal maybe bigger for free. youd just need to pick it up... :)

I actualy live in Leicester so that's pretty close to Birmingham. :) Seriously though... if you do ever have a tank spare you'd like to get rid of, I'd be happy to take it and I'd pay for it as well if you want. Kind of off topic but I was actualy planning on visiting the Birmingham aquarium tommorow :D Now whether I manage to do so or not after all is a totaly different matter...

Lol i wouldn't expect you to come all the way from liecester (sp?) and then pay for a little 15g. Ill ask around, im 95% sure i can get a 15g for you though, but youll have to give me a few weeks. Ill probably end up just moving the fish from the rekord 60 and adding a few more cories and tetras. Which would leave the the rekord 60 you could take for free. the box says it approx 54litres which i tihnk works out around 12gal but all the volume converters say that it actually 70 litres (15.8gal). Ive added you and ill Pm as soon as i can get my hands on one. :D

Well i went to my mates house yesterday on the bus, the plan was to go there go out for a bit then get picked up by my mum and put the tank in the car.
Plan went to pot when we decided to go up and meet everyone. Didnt get back at my mates house until 12am, So it was too late to give the tank a clean and load it up without waking everyone up. Today im going to sleep at another mates house and pick up some filters, slate and bogwood and then go and pick the tank up the next day. Have been thinking non-stop about what can go in it, had a quick look at it today, just needs a clean but cant wait to get it home. i think its about 37g and i was planning on putting my 6 cories in and topping up the species of each so they have more of their own buddes. I was hoping to go for two shoals of tetras also.
Ok so plans are:
Bottom
3 Bronze cory
3 albino ''
2 lepord ''
2 pandas
Mid:
8 cardinal
8 black phantom tetras ( i tihnk they are but they look different to the pictures on net)
And then one centre piece fish.
Would this be overstocked?
Obviously its going to be cycled first. After this i think ive covered every inch of the setup.
I just desperately want to get it home before my mum changes her mind, Lol i dont think she would but i am starting to get paranoid :look: :look:

To hell with the congrats on the new tank! HUGE congrats for the scores and being able to get into college!!!! You need a good education over a new tank (altho some people here would disagree!). It beats trying to work yuor way into a good university from a crappy community college like I'm going to have to do! Huge congrats!!!!
