To hell with the congrats on the new tank! HUGE congrats for the scores and being able to get into college!!!! You need a good education over a new tank (altho some people here would disagree!). It beats trying to work yuor way into a good university from a crappy community college like I'm going to have to do! Huge congrats!!!!

Hehe, For once im going to put my education before other things (friends, football so diffently tanks will come after, although will always be looked after)
My fish tank is just a little extra hobby i really enjoy, and even this little rekord 60 is nice to watch after a stressful day or argument so i cant wait until i get the 4feet planted tank going.
Good luck with getting into Uni, Hopefully i can go onto uni after two years in college.

Well done with your exams-sound like you've got everything into perspective. I'm taking my GCSE's next year. During the summer hols I spend alot of time on my aquarium but unfortunately I don't get that sorta time when I'm at school.

Good luck with college and happy fish keeping ;)

Well I spent 2 years of my life working a crappy job at a Chevrolet dealership changing oil and rotating tires before I realized that my life was going to be going no where! I have learned that you gotta keep your priorities straight....only took me 21 years to learn it too!

Grrr :grr: Went to my mates house today and he wasnt in  . However i got the filter and slate and bogwood. Now im going to get the tank tomorrow, Third time lucky lets hope. I just wanted to ask a question about the filter i picked up. It doesnt come with instruction and i dont know what make it is so i was hoping someone has experience with one. Its a Trio 2000 with 3 forms of filters. (Sponge,Plastic hula hoop things :S and then a little bag with small black stones.)
I was just wondering if anyone knows how many gallons per hour it cycles. I already have a 100 gallon per hour filter than can go straight in so just wanted to work out how this one would get on. Ok i have a few more questions.
1. I want to cut part of the sponge from my current tank (rekord 60) using the sponge which helps grow bacteria and the using the small white one to catch the big pieces of detriement. I dont think i need to change the hula hoop things but i was i dont know what the small black stones are. They could be peat? or maybe another forms of carbon?
2. I want to clone the tank so the fish can move in asap. Im going to pick up so laterite tomorrow which i will wash and put in the tank. I will use around 7gallons of water from my current tank and then fill the rest up with clean dechlorinated water.i will throw in the extra corner filter (100gal/per hour) which has been in my current tank for a few months. i will then use sponge from the rekord filter and put it into the trio 2000. and throw that in the tank. Ill then get some gravel in a stocking and lay it on top of the new laterite. Ill put all the ornament and fake plants in for the extra bacteria. Ill turn the filter and heater on and give the tank 24 hours to clear and warm up. I have two heater 100w i think, How many watts would i need to keep a 37g warm. Next day ill introduce the fish. Is this right or am i missing anything?
Ill remove the gravel in stocking before the fish go in, and after the tank has been running a few weeks and ive had time to save up for new light, co2 nutrients ill start introducing plants.

congrats on your results

This is just a guess.... a trio 2000, i asuming the 2000 liters per hour, they say in a tropic tank you need to turn over the tank 5 times in a hour, so at a guess 2000/5=400ltr.

You need 5 wat per gal (200w) your 2 * 100w will be fine but get a bigger heater whan you can aford it, as the 100w be on and off all day which will shorten ther life.

Thanks Simon, Yes sounds about right to me. Ive read up about Cloning and it says Transferring gravel isnt worth it, as it doesnt contain much good bacteria more of the bad. So ill probably leave the gravel out.
