I just tested my water for all the tests i have.

Here are the results:

ph = 8.1
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm
Nitrate = 10ppm
kh = 13 dkh
gh = 16 dkh
Phosphate = 2.5 mg

I have a bit of an algae problem. Hopefully the Co2 will help with that (doing that today). But is the problem also that theres not enough Nitrates compared to Phosphates and the lack of Nitrates is reducing the Phosphate uptake?

I'm also hopefully going to add some Shrimps when i can find some.

What lighting do you have?

Low NO3 can cause algae in some cases, getting it up to 20ppm or over should help. And you're right upping NO3 shouls mean more PO4 gets used, the genreal rule is 10ppm NO3 for every 1ppm PO4, I.e if you have 2ppm PO4 you should really try and keep NO3 at 20ppm or over :)

The CO2 in itself should also help prevent some types of algae as well as be beneficial for the plants, bonus! :)
