What are the sizes for them to breed?
How many eggs do they end up producing that turn into fry?
How many do I need in the tank?
What should the water coditions be?

I have one that's about 2 inches, could it breed?

Females will breed at about 2 inches, males about 3, but it is not constant.

The larger the fish, the larger the brood. A young 2 inch female will end up with a brood of about 8 to 12, more or less.

You only need one male and one female, but it's always wise to have more females then males.

Water conditions are best slightly alkaline, a ph of 7.5 to 8.5 will do the job.

If it's female it can probably breed, if male he probably has a bit of growing to do.

How do I know if it is a female or a male? Does it matter what I were to feed the cichlids? Can they still breed if I were to feed them fishflake food, or the dried shrimp pellets.

Males and females can be difficult to sex until they mature. Males 'tend' to have darker under finnage but this is not absolute. Males tend to grow faster and larger, but this is also not absolute. Females are the ones who end up holding the eggs - this is absolute.

These are among the most prolific of fish, and will breed in a toilet. Just add water.
