Can I put one, maybe more, yellow labs inside a 10 gallon? If they ever outgrow the tank, I have a 20 gallon long tank, and a 30 gallon I can move them to. If I can, I'll be getting 1 inch ones. So how many can I get?

If you have a 30 gallon that you can move them to later, just start off with them in there in the first place. Niether a 10 or a 20 is appropriate for these fish, though you can start them in the 20, I don't see the point. Keeping these fish alone is absolutely pointless, these are very social grouping fish. It's best to have at least a trio. Once you get 3 you may as well get 6 because either way their size and activity demands the 30 gallon.

Can I get one in a 20 gallon long tank? Or would two work out nice as well?

I've researched and since cichlids like a high pH, Proper pH (8.2) is what I'll be getting. Question though, will the pH stay 8.2 forever, or will it slowly go back to normal? I'm thinking if sand and rocks don't make the pH go down, then the pH should stay at 8.2, but I don't know and want to find out.

I have had africans for 18 months now and my pH is at 7.4. My yellow labs have bred and all the other fish are healthy. I wouldn't recommend adding stuff to alter yur pH as it may do more harm than good. It is better to have a lower stable pH than a higher unstable pH due to adding chemicals.
