hi only just signed up for this site, i am desperate to find out why my tank water has turned yellow/brown in colour. I set it up a few weeks ago and it is fishless. It was fine for a few days crystal clear but now its looking bad. I have bogwood and fake plants in the tank and i boiled the bogwood until the water ran clear any ideas would be appreciated.

It is probably just the tannins in the bog wood. They are harmless allthough do lower the ph.

Hope this helps!

Thanks alot for the info, do i leave it until it clears or is there something i could do to accelerate it.

Add some carbon to the filter. I actually think it looks better than crystal clear water. Looks more natural.

keep doing water changes, and it will clear out. If you driftwood is pretty new... Take it out and boil it... That should take out most of the tannins and enables the wood to sink more readily. :)
