hey, as some of you may know, i have been waiting for my tank to be ready, well finaly it is, and i have started of with 4 female guppys and 1 male, i swear that one female is pregnant she is large and has what oi think is a gravid spot, but all the females seem to have them i have pics but not clear at all sorry and i cant fit them on here as they are over 100kb how can i shrink them 2 fit on here? , any advice on these or comments would be nice? thanks.

i use photobucket.com its a free site to hoast your photos, then you copy the code given and post it on here but the best bit is it resizes the images for you

i have to say you people are good with camra's, i have a 6mp fuji camra and this is the best pics i can get! any tips on how to get better ones? you get an idea of the fish tho.

lyretail female? i dont know? well, i have 3 females, which have yellow tails and black patterns over the tails and one female which seems plain white all over, she is the one i think may be pregnant

I don't think she's heavily pregnant- about 1 or 2 weeks into pregnancy maybe, but the pics are blurry. Females will always have gravid spots, that's not how to tell if they're pregnant. You can see if the gravid spot gets Really dark, and if she gets noticabley fatter.

thanks, i did not know that and i have been reading about breeding them for ages, i thoguht he gravid spot was only there when they are pregnant. so i may be lookign at 2 weeks before fry? i got them 2day so i cant tell if they have got fatter, i think they are starting to mate tho, the males seems to be chasing one female around and nudging her? best i can describe it?

I assume you mean nudging her stomach? That's a mating ritual, your fish are trying to mate, well the males are but you will almost always have pregnant fish, they store sperm and can get pregnant many times after mating, even when a male isn't around.

true, i had a female about 6 months after all the males had gone (into a seperate tank) and she was still droppping fry, i think it 7 months with no male they can store sperm for
