Alrighty, so we're wondering just what kind of filter should we use? Something that's easily gotten at Petsmart pls :D
It's a 6ft long tank (somewhere around there), so something that will be able to filter that.
Also planning on getting 2 heaters for the tank... 1 on each end.... how many watts would be best?

Aaaaand uhm.... think that's it actually.

Here's a pic of the tank just for the heck of it! :P It's sitting on the floor since we're not sure how far from the wall it'll have to be for whatever.

Ya know, seeing them in the store... they look big, but not that big... that is until you get it home and see that it's almost as long as the wall it's up against
Yay I'm so excited to try my crappy hands at aquascaping, and eventually getting fish for it :hyper:

it really depends on what your local petsmart carries. if you can get your hands on a Fx5, that would be best. otherwise, look into another large fluval or eheim canister.
alternatively, you could use 2 AquaClear110 HOB filters.

Thanks for the reply :D

I really don't want to use HOB filters but if that's all they have then well.. so be it heh.

Another question I forgot to ask.
How do you do water changes in a tank so big? We only had small tanks up to this point and I always just used a bucket. Siphon out water in to bucket, empty, fill bucket with water & dechlorinater... etc.
I'm guessing you use some kind of hose thing from your sink or something right? Is that what the Python? is? So, how do you dechlorinate the water?

no HOB?!?!?!? lol. ok
im sure they will have some kind of canisters. i personally do not suggest going with the marineland or rena canisters. but if youre working on a tight budget, its another option.but id suggest spending a little more for the fluval or eheim.

you can use the big python, or the same bucket method youre already using (granted, it would take longer).
depending on the tank, i just use a water hose, or a reverse siphon from my aged water barrels.

If the local shop doesn't have any suitable canisters, search ebay or www.drsfostersmith.com

Foster's and Smith is a good online retailer for all sorts of pet supplies.

Petsmart price matches don't they? I might have to look up some stuff and print out some pages to take with us when we go just in case :D
How powerful should the filter be?

Also since it seems the question got buried a bit by the other question heh...... How do you dechlorinate the water going back in to the tank if it comes straight from the tap? Would I have to just keep adding a little bit of dechlorinater in to the tank as the water is being added? Would I have to turn the filters off so it doesn't harm the bacteria and then cut them back on once refilling is done?
