Oh, and my mosquitofish, Bubbles, is now in stage 4 of pregnancy, cuz her belly is drooped lower than it wuz a couple hours ago! YAY! Im lookin out 4 more baby snails, 2. How long does a mosquitofish hav until it delivers at stage 4. -heart  , ally86ozzy

They can drop fry every 4 weeks or so.

How ever the females will turn and eat their own fry with in seconds of giving birth, having a heavily planted talk will help but with these fish you want a good V trap to get the fry away from mum ASAP.

whens the last time you bought new fish?
sometimes you can find baby snails in the bottom of the bags.
i found that once.
but also.. i had like HEAPS of baby snails because my snail gave bith to tons of babies.
but they are all gone now.
i dont know where.
ahwell.
but i dont think the snail will do no harm.
there cute aren`t they

no i havnt got new fish, but i did a project in school (im 12) w/ the mosquito fish and in the 'tanks' the fish were in there were snails, so maybe the snails laid eggs on the plants cuz i took those home too, but i didnt take any snails home. yes the baby snail is ADORABLE! i named him Parasite, cuz thats wut i thought he wuz at first lol!

Welcome to the site L. Sorry to hear about your troubles. In general it is not a good idea to keep gambusia with guppies. The gambusia are just too rough to be left in with a guppy. Your new fish should probably be kept in a species only tank to avoid the damage they might otherwise cause.

And getting fry is very difficult. When a females dropps fry if their is not enough cover she will turn and eat the fry with in seconds.

I took me a long time to save fry from mine but once u have a way to save the babies it's relatively easy.

You need to know what she looks like just as she's about to give birth, then i move the into a small tank creamed with plants and anything else to give the fry a place to hide in.
The usualy by the following day she had the fry and is not eating anything she can catch and needs moving out again ASAP.
