As a mini-celebration for having my ammonia levels drop to zero, i went to the nslfs (not so local fish store, about an hour away [come to think of it, EVERY fish store is about an hour away]) and bought myself a little plant.
His name is dave and he's a terrestrial ivy called 'lizard tail ivy'. Apparently, it's a marsh plant that can and almost always does survive underwater quite well. (dunno how long he'll last though, i smelled his leaves and he smells freakin delicious [seriously, herby like bay leaves] and i've heard they're good grub for any fish)

I'll see if i can take a picture tomorrow and upload it on here, but suffice to say he looks like he needs friends :(

Weeeeeeeird!
Theres no aerator near him, but his leaves are covered in bubbles (i mean COVERED)

i absolutely love the way you name everything in your tank. carl the wiggly thing before was it? and now dave the plant. he sounds nice anyways.

Giving things names helps me (and probably alot of other people) take care of them.

Instead of "My lizard tail ivy is dying" it's "Dave's dying!"

Well, carl the wiggly thing and his buddies all died (or flew away, turns out they were some weird aquatic/terrestrial fruit fly lookin things)

 Good luck with Dave the plant. I hope Dave lives a long and enjoyable life. What size tank is he in? Are you gonna get him some buddies so he doesn't get lonely?

He's hanging out in the corner of my 10 gallon.

I've seen some 'duck weed' at the lfs and i totally dig the kind of coverage and lighting it gives the tank. I'm a little afraid it'll cut off the light to the plants on the bottom too

I plan on getting some carpetting for the forground and some thicker grasses to cover the left wall
