Yay Hydrometer Question...

Hi guys, if youve been in the Invert section you know I have a RCC tank going... Im actually trying to get my salinity to the right position, and recently bought a Coralife Deep Six SG Hydrometer, and Im like... how does this thing WORK?! I read the instructions, did it... but the lever isnt moving o.o;... I have, estimating, around 45 gal of water in my 55 Gal, and added around 4.5gal worth of salt... is that too little for the reader to show results? Or whats up? Is my hydrometer broken? im confused X_X
