The so called obliquadens I have in my tank were one of the very first cichlids that I ever purchased, and out of all the cichlids, I think they are one of the most stunning. I regretted parting with mine several years ago so was overjoyed when I spotted them today, they were a deffinate must have.

Sounds like your as pleased as punch! Its always nice to meet an old friend that you where not expecting. Might be a fish I can look into when I get a new tank. Let me have a good think about the sump and I will let you know if I come up with any cracking ideas.

thanks for that tanks, I want to add the protein skimmer to it,*possibly inside the sump???? never used one, and dont even know how it works. may take a trip to cape town and ask the great whites      :hyper: :shout:

Boy was I surprised when I saw the link for GAS regarding the OBs

Have checked out those you recommended mama and they are indeed beautiful. Now I will have to go back to my list and see whether they will all mix.

mix the afras but (on knees begging) please dont mix the Tanganyikans with mbuna. Their a completely different type. MUCH calmer species in their own way. I'm not saying they wouldnt last with mbuna, but IMHO they wouldnt be able to show off their own personal abilities that make them so special.

once you've had mbuna then moved on to tanganyikans you see the difference.

TANGANYIKANS ROCK!!!! :band:

:D

Mama after the rollicking I got for even asking...I have no intention of mixing the two.

You may get up now.

OH THANK GOD!!! this arthritis!!!! lmao

so what peeked your curiosity in Tangs? :hey:

Tbh I like everything. I can see me ending up with several tanks once I'm comfortable that I know what I'm doing. I really really want a discus tank but that's a long way off yet. Too much too choose from and so little space :(

I know what you mean. It's an addiction! :fish:

once you start it's so hard to think about stopping and being content. I started seriously 6 years ago and it snow balled from there. I've learned so much and (knock on wood) havent lost any fish in years but i'm still afraid to start up a discus tank. so much work so little patience, with africans, you basicly do the w/c's, feed, turn on and off the lights and they take care of themselves. but not with discus....oooooo noo HIGH MAINTENANCE fish for sure!

The only time I'd do discus is if I lived with really soft tap water and I dont see that happening anytime soon.

:X

It's the one thing that really stands in my way...the water. I dont' mind the work, I'm used to hard work and now that we work from home I have plenty of time. Plus I like to make things easy hence buying the python.

I would have to invest in an ro unit as our water is very hard here and I know they like soft but they are just so beautiful that I must have them one day..if not I shall just scream and shout and stamp my feet a lot til my oh gives in
