While moveing my Y. sidthimunki's to their new temporary tank before they move into their 75 gallon I thought I would take advantage of the situation and get some photos of the whole group all, 36 of them.

I managed to take around 80 pictures which I whittled down to 56, but to be honest I was a little disapointed with them, I may try for some better ones when I move them again into their new tank.

So here is a small selection

I have bought the 36 in 3 groups, the first group of 10 were purchased in April 2006, the second group of 10 in November 2006 and the last group of 16 were bought in January 07 and apart from a couple of skinny ones there isn't really a vast difference in sizes considering every group were bought at around 3/4".

So it seems like the last group have grown the fastest as they are pretty much all around 1 1/2"+ now, I think the fact that they feel so at home in such a large group may have helped with there speedy growth and possibly the amount of bloodworm and black midge larvae that they get.

cool :) i think the pictures are pretty good quality.

wow thats a lot of loaches, bet there amazingly active, how do you keep track of them all?

They are amazingly active they are great to watch, there are no other loaches in their tank so it is easy to keep an eye on them all. It was great to transfer them into one of my photography tanks before they went into their temporary tank so that I could get some pictures of them all together, it would never be possible in a normal tank.

Hi thats a lot of Y. sidthimunki's !!! why so many?

Between them and Clowns they are my favourite Loaches and I had the chance to get 3 large groups at good prices so I went for it, anybody who has kept 5 or 6 of these will say that they are happy and interact a lot but until you have seen a shoal this size you don't really realise how much interaction goes on.

I hope they will spawn eventually but to be honest that doesn't bother me I just like them and I think this is the best way to see them at their best.

i can just imagine how much activity there is, we need more pics when you move them :good: don't think i have even seen so many together before

Nice pic. But sorry to say i dont like to keep all same fish in one big tank. Like to get different type of fish to look better and more colorful.

Duffman strikes again, Oh yeah! :good:

Each to their own, I consider myself a Loach enthusiast and therefore give the Loaches what they need which is more of their own kind to interact with and therefore be happy. I am trying to create a sort of Biotope, my own little slice of the wild so to speak and in doing so a large shoal not only looks good, and helps with the effect but makes me happy and hopefully the fish as well.

Very nice duff. The array of loaches you've kept is impressive!!!

Thanks, I currently have 16 species of Loach with more additions coming soon :hyper:
