I managed to 7 fry from my Xiphophorus gordoni this weekend.

I bought these fish back from the US in May.

I let the adults drop in the main species tank and them moved the young to a nursery tank. This little platy is not very widespread in the hobby and I will be trying to get a really strong colony going before I let any go.

Best of luck on that Duncan. I just tried a search and found very little about them so my guess is they are also not common in the US.

You are right, they are quite rare throughout the hobby which is why a few of us have got hold of them to breed up.

They seem to be quite an easy fish and although I was told before I got them that they were pretty plain, I think they are really quite pretty. They have a lovely blue line down their flank, they are really nice. I have managed to get them flock breeding now, so hopefully it shouldn't be too long before I have them established.

Probably not. I only have seven fry at the moment, it depends how many more I can get.

I always try not to promise fish I haven't got, so I will say no at the moment and if I do then it will be a nice surprise.
