X___x Shrunken Belly

bleh yesterday, i bought 3 bronze corys and the lady gave me an extra one free of charge because it looked sick. so i took it home, it looked alright as it was eating and stuff but it has a freaking shrunken belly x__X he's eating but not getting any bigger. suggestions?

Well never let them do that again to you, as they knew the fish was very unwell, internal parasites can cause sunken in bellys so can fish tb.
To be honest i would destroy it before it infects the whole tank, sorry it sounds harsh but it's in a bad way.

To be honest no, had it with plecs not nice, please get him out of the tank fast, sunken in belly can mean a number of things and none of them easy to treat.
Last stage of any desease he has.

Didn't want the fish to doom there tanks, so pilled it off on you, putting all your fish at risk, they should of destroyed it.
Check tha anus to see if its enlarged or red and inflamed, check the colour of the poo, and watch anthing prutruding from the anus.

thats great advice. that shop panned off a sick fish that could infect your tank all to make them look generous. could have been worse they could have given you the sick fish as one of the three i guess. personally i pick the exact fish i want from a tank myself and always pick the most colourful and plumpest looking fish in there. its a hard call to say weather or not to try and keep this little guy and id be inclined to wait a while longer if there no improvement in a few days then euthanise. its your call really but leaving the fish in there could leave you open to loosing the rest of the tank. to kill the fish catch it and bash it on a wall. quick and sharp no fuss and least suffering possible (dont freeze it, that will expand the fishes cells and cause a painful slow death) if you cant do it find a heatless begger like me to do it for you

thanks =/ ive taken a close look./ its not really shrunken. its just that he's really skinny. i thuoght he was shrunken becuase he was naturally darker and his colouration made it look like the clear part of the stomach wasnt there but its more flat and sunken

Really skinny is the same as a shrunken belly. I agree that it is probably either TB or internal parasites. If you want to try to save him, you can treat him with Levamisole hydrochlorid in your hospital tank. However, because of the possibliity of TB, make sure you wear gloves when handling the tank and its water.

If you have to put him down the best way to do it is with clove oil. You can get it from a heath food store. just put your fish in a bowl and put a couple drops in the water. It just put them into a deep sleep that is so deep there heart stops. This way is vary kind and is not upseting to you or the fish. If for some resone a couple drops do not work just add more, the fish feels no pain with this.
