wikipedia recommends nothing less than 10 gallons for a betta and 20 for a female community. That's gotta be a minimum gallon per fish record so far as bettas are concerned.

yeah... the fish lady at my walmart has four neon tetras in a 2 or 3 gallon tank. They kinda just float there listlessly all day. walmart has all their sizings off...
