Sorry I just wasn't getting any repsonse under the title stocking problem - but now I have your attention any chance someone could give some help?

I have one of those corner shaped tanks - it is pretty tall - and holds about 100litres..I don't know what that is in gallons. I also have a tallish 70 litre tank - which is a touch bare at the moment (a paradise fish, 2 cory juliis and 4 phantom tetras). I was thinking of purchasing one (is this okay) or two angelfish.

My intention was to put them in the smaller tank for a while, maybe with a couple of rams and some blood red platys. When they get bigger I was intending to swop them with four thredfin rainbows which currently live with 7 or 8 varying dwarf gourami species in the big tank.

I read they grow pretty big (6 to 7 inches) but does this include the fins which make up most of their expanse?

Anyone got any Angel fish experiences? Anything that makes good tank mates with them?

I was looking at Discus' but they seem to need to be kept in groups of four or more and I haven't really got the set-up to cope. I just feel like my tanks are missing that "feature fish" if you know what I mean. :/

Your question seems a bit confusing so perhaps that is why theres no response yet, i think they need something like 20 gallons each when full grown so you probably would only be able to keep one in each tank i imagine.

Angelfish need 10g each and grow up to 7" including fins. They also need a tall tank as they are as tall as they are long. You could keep a pair of angels in your 100l tank, which is 22 uk gals. They can be aggressive though, we rehomed our 2" angels after they attacked our 5" gourami which resulted in his death. Just research them well before you buy.

Angels need 29 gallons minimum and grow closer to 10" tall including fins.

Tank should be atleast 18" tall for that reason.

the gourami thing is right tho, they dont like em but should get on with most other fish (except neons or when paired up and spawning, then they hate everyone).

Saint Cuthbert you could probably get away with a pair in the 100L (26 gallon) with the rams and the plattys if it is tall enough?

SamUK - ad now i live near Leeds :)

who started this thread??? oh yeah St Cuthbert...as for your tank, i have a Juwel trigon 190 which by the sounds of it is slightly larger than your corner unit. I used to have 2 gorgeous 7" tall angels and i dont think i would have had room for more.. so you will be lucky to get more than one really - just remember what starts off bout the size of a 50p now will get way bigger than your hand with outstretched hands...
they can get very territorial so you need enough room, shelter and dividing material (plants, decor, rocks etc) to give each angel its own little safe haven.

angels also can and wil eat anything that will fit in their mouths - but as with all things in the fish world - some wont :)

So everything I said was right.... we disagree on the 29gal thing - can't find anywhere that says 29g minimum, just 10g per angel and a minimum of 20g to have any at all, but both of us said a pair would be fine in the 100l as long as it is tall enough! lol
