I'm upset!

2 days ago I get my first fry and then the following day I get my first death of my adult fish (1 of the mother Guppies)

:-( :-(

The up's and down's of my fish-keeping career in just 2 days... :X

:rip: little guppy

I really feel for you, I know where your coming from, the same thing happened to me when I first got Guppies, had fry within a couple of days and had the first adult death a couple of days later. Its hard when it happens and I don’t think it get easier, just keep your fingers crossed that you manage to keep a couple of the fry going, that’s what I have managed to do and it is nice to watch them grow up.

Hi. I think that for some reason female guppy's are rather sensitive after or during birth. I guess that goes for other species as well, humans included. I had a female guppy die unexpectedly and i have a feeling that it was due to a birth complication. Sometimes they just don't have any luck. Sorry that you lost a fish.

I can relate to this too :-( One of my sons female guppies (housed in the kitchen tank - so more mine than his really :p ) gave birth 3 weeks ago - it was our first livebearer - birthing experience, and she managed only 2 one of which was deformed, after that no matter how hard she tried (and oh boy did she try, poor little thing) she just couldn't give birth to the rest and died of exhaustion - so we also had that up and down thing in a short space of time....As was said before, just enjoy watching the babies grow up - we have that one little fry left and he/she is doing well and wow what a precious fishy that is going to be :D
