Wow that tank is ####ed in the future, no offense.  It looks really good tho no doubt

Way way overstocked.  The pacu will not eat anything in there but it will out grow everything in there and you'll have to get rid of it...

3 Dempseys?  You should only put 1 of each species in there, but the FH will likely kill all 3 of the Dempseys in time.

The jewells are actually new world african cichlids.

Silver Dollars are schooling fish, it is best to keep in groups of 3, but they are great for your set-up.

Ha good luck with that set-up, you are surely to wind up with a nice fish or two out of the survivors as they grow..

I have 5 cichlid tanks and only one community tank with half as many cichlids as you list and its 125 gallon.

If i added up all the years i worked in pet store (fish sections not any other area) it would add up to about 4 years full time. That doesnt count the year and a half i did maintainence (sp?) on customers tanks.

I personally set up the fish section in 3 pet stores (2 Petlands and Cheshire Pets in atl).

In two stores i worked in we got commish on sales. I used to be a damn junky when it came to new products, methods, and information.

Ive been in charge of ordering fish for the stores, made trips to the wholesaler to pick out the fish personally, and ran the fish sections for stores that ranged from 300 gallons to over 1,000 gallons.

Ive had all kinda of tanks from salt water reef to a striaght up fish only tank.

Fresh water discus, african cichlids, cent/south cichlids, guppy tank, regular community tanks, and specialty tanks like rainbow, tetra, and gourami tanks.

Im pretty sure i know what im doing with the selection of fish i put in my personal tanks. ;)

There is a reason most fishkeepers on the fish message boards think that most LFS employees are ill informed.

in the case of your tank even if we ignore the fact that you've mixed incompatible species and even poorly paired certain species within the tank that don't do well with more than one of each in the tank there is a basic underlying problem.

You have a 75G tank
and you have even if I take some stunting of fish growth into account there is a minimum of 140 inches of adult fish in there without the water or surface area to support them. Not to mention you'll have a heavily stocked 75G tank with only a Emperor 400 filtering it.

I'm with SunsetOrange. That tank is due for some death.

yeah, well, what can you say. Except that (slightly in defence of the unfortunate lfs that employed him), he may be exaggerating his experience in the fish shop trade. For all we know, he may have got sacked for incompetence. Or have made that bit up.

He'll know before long that he was wrong and everyone else was right - just wait for that tank to turn into a blood bath...

Some of the most aggresive fish around + a tank FAR too small for even half of them = Fish Soup

:(

:D he could add a jaguar and a taplia(buttikoferi(sp)). to add to his blood bath   and see whos the :flex: (daddy)

  just kidding way way overstoked im over stoked in my 100g but to that much :byebye: feel sorry for the fish :dunno: flowerhorn grand champ experiment :flex:

You don't suppose a troll got in his tank? The selection seems almost too good to be true. I have read very similar threads lately. It's not everybody who can be as funny as Ethos with his cichlid photo; I still laugh about that.

No he's serious.
It was posted in the BS forum of a car board no reason to troll about fish.

Plus if you look at the picture you can see the fish.

He was actually proud of his tank till a few os uf tore into him.

If you were to register there you'd see the post has like 46 replys.

Including one person with 12 convicts in a 15g tank.

did anyone see the 24" Pacu on ebay - in a 150gal tank
just the one fish took up 2/3rds of the tank...

Too dig for a 125 let alone a 75g. :fun:

Just wait until that flowerhorn reaches sexual maturity and he'll see who's right! I'd like to see him boast about all his fishkeeping experience then :sly:
I feel kinda sorry for him and definitely feel sorry for those future dead fish, but I take great pleasure in seeing arrogant people get burned.

while hes adding the jag and butti he could add a dovii or a mota just to see how things go. I have also read on other boards where a guy that has kept cichlids for many many years put a 7+ inch mota in a 45 with an 11+ inch butti with nothing more than a peice of PVC to teach it a lesson for being so aggressive. there is no reason for that person to treat those cichlids like that, and IMO the only way he would be able to keep those fish alive and healthy would be in a pond.

 Just another reason for people to do a little research , and not necessarily trust who is netting and bagging your fish for advice .

I've seen posts like that on this site in the past ..........many times in the past .

Good luck getting the point accross , Sky . :)
