Wow, Nitrite Already?

When I cycled my first two tanks the process took 6 or 7 weeks. I believe it was atleast 2 weeks before I even saw a slight drop in ammonia. I can't believe what a difference a little mature media makes! Today is day 4 and I already have a drop and I am starting to see nitrite. Any guesses at how long the process will take? If I add some of the decor from the established tanks will it speed the process even more?

There are a lot of factors. Just keep it going. Decor might offer a bit of a boost, but if you are really looking for more of a boost, put more mature media from your two tanks. You can safely take 1/3rd of the media from each filter and put it into the new filter. It will cycle much faster with more mature media.
