Hello all!!

Ive recently got back into keeping tropical fish after a few years away from the hobby and have a juwel 190 litre trigon tank (fully cycled). I currently have 4 neons and a sunset platty, hoping to add 2 angels 1 siamese fighter few more neons couple of blue gourmis and 6-8 tiger barbs,
few questions,
1.do you think the barbs would be ok when they are in a group, its one fish i havent had much experience with, obvisouly i know about fin nipping in small numbers etc,

2. could anyone recommend some good bottom feeding fish (not to big)

3. and finnaly is there any fish that is good at helping to keep the tank clean (algae etc)

Thanks in advance everyone

A Siamese fighter is best kept on it's own and would be at risk from/to the Angels and Gouramies.
Although Tiger Barbs are better in groups of 8-10, it would still be a risk keeping them with long finned fish. Why not try Pentazona Barbs instead? They are very similar but incredibly peaceful.
It's always risky keeping Angels with Neons as they are their natural diet in the wild. Some people have succesfully grown the two together as juveniles but there's always that risk. Keyhole Cichlids might be worth looking at as they are as graceful as Angels and a good community fish.
Blue Gouramies can be aggressive and it is recommended you keep as few males in the tank as possible. Honey Gouramies are a great alternative and more peaceful.
Corydoras are great for scavenging food that falls to the bottom and are great community fish.
Bristlenose catfish are generally good at eating algae, although they need a more mature tank and can't be relied on solely for the benefit of algae eating.
You could have the following stocking, ensuring that you stock slowly:

2-3 Angels/Keyholes
6 Neons (depending on your Angels)
5-6 Honey Gouramies
6 Pentazona Barbs
1 Bristlenose catfish
5-6 Corydoras

P.S. :hi: to the forum!

Thanks for the quick reply
I really like the look of the Keyhole Cichlids, problem is ive been to quite a few tropical fish stockists (north east engalnd) and have never come across them before, anyone know of anywhere local that stocks them??
also are the Pentazona Barbs as active as the tiger barbs? also not sure ive seen them before

Thanks again
