Hi,

I bought a new Beta a week ago after mine died of dropsy and was wondering if I should give him any tankmates.
He is in a 5 gallon tank with live plants and the shop I bought him from suggested I add 3 dwarf cories to the tank with him, he was in with other fish in the shop and didn't seem interested in them unlike the beta in the next tank that flared at every fish in with him.

Would it be a good idea to try this before he gets used to being on his own or would it be a disaster?

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

It's safer to have the betta live by himself. You could add corycats or oto's with him if you'd like.

the only options for a 5gallon tank is shrimps, ADF's, ottos, pygmy cories or snails.
it needs to be heated and filtered.

Thanks for your replys,

the tank is filtered and heated so I think I might try some pygmy cories with him and see how he acts, if there is any problems I could always move them into the main tank.
