i was wondering i saw this absolutly wonderful betta at my lfs and the are have a sale and i also get 10% of that for being a regular customer ok let me get to the point the question i was goin to ask is 2.5 gallons divided with a tempory divider be alright for a couple of months until i have the money for the new tank it means they will each get 1.25 gallons to them selves it just i have fell in love with that certia betta also could anyone give me any ideas on anything that i could use ats a divider that i might have laying around the house

I will say this to any new Betta lovers- Dont get one if you cant afford it. By this I mean, get your tank/s set up, get your foods and meds, all of the things that come with owning a Betta (or indeed any fish) before you actually buy him/her/them.

So my advice to you is this: Dont get your fish yet. Save up the money first and then get them. We all do last-minute-buys every now and then. Buy things we dont have room for. Buy another fish "we can squeeze in somewhere". But not to start with. Im sure at least 90% of us started out slowly and sensibly.

I guess what Im saying is, IMO dont put them in the 2.5g, dont use a devider from something in your house. Wait and do things properly untill you have experience to do things your own way.

Good luck

 I agree.

I know you're not new to Betta keeping but like Maddie said, you are best waiting until you have got the money.
If you are breeding, like you said in your other thread, then you will need all the spare money you can get. ;)

i woudnt put enything else in your tank i'm pretty sure the rainbow shark will get to big 4 your tank you have 1 corycat and 2 glowlights need more looks like you dont realy know that mutch after all

Ok so your not new to Betta keeping, please forgive me. However you should firstly think about the things youve got. I think 01edmn has said pretty much it. Sort out what you have first and then think to the future.

To go on what 01edmn said. We are not critising you at all, we are here to help. I would suggest firstly buying 3-5 more cory cats and at least 5 more glowlights. I dont however know about the rainbow shark but if it does grow big, then remove him. I would even say, remove him anyway to make room for the glowlights and corys.

But anyways. good luck with what ever you decide. Remember we are here to help and not have a go :good:

The angel fish, loaches and the rainbow shark need to go, bad. You also need more cories and tetras... If the description in your profile is right, you'll need:

"2 male swordtails, (-) one, males tend to fight, plus they get a bit big.. 2 red wagtail patys, 1 angel fish (-) need at least a 20 gallon tank, 1 rainbow shark (-) need a far bigger tank, 1 albino cat fish (-, not even sure what this is?), 1 red honey dwarf gurami, 5 neon tetras, 1 tiger barb(-, rowdy and get too big plus they need shoals) and 1 emerald barb (what is an emerald barb?)

Or:

2 male swordtails, (same as before) 2 red wagtail patys, 1 angel fish (same as before), 1 rainbow shark (same as before), 1 albino cat fish (same as before), 1 red honey dwarf gurami, 4 neon tetras, 2 khio loaches (-, like being with more than 2, but if you add another one you're already overstocked),2 glowlite tetras (+3), 1 albine cory (+3), 2 snails

i agree it seems your tank will eventually become overstocked.
