I think i have finally decided on the main fish for my tank. :hyper: In addition to my 5 (will be 8 this weekend) tiger barbs, I am planning on adding a ruby shark, a female kribensis cichlid, a male three-spot gourami (i am told that they should be able to hold their own with the tigers), a bristlenose pleco, and 3 female bettas. Is this a good mix  ? or should i change a few? what would be best? any other fish that you suggest? I was thinking of khuli loaches, but i've read that they need sand, and i have gravel.
Thanks! 8)

Mmm, the idea of female bettas might not be too great. Though their fins are no where near as showy as the males, the tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers. Might stress them out a bit too much. =(

As for the others, I have little experience. ^^"

Sounds like your tank's going to be a myriad of colors, beautiful! Goodluck with everything!

Bad idea having tiger barbs with betta or any fish that has fins because tiger barbs are fin nippers and they will kill the fish.

 ??? don't all fish have fins? or do you mean fish with long fins? i'm confused

Haha yes, I think he means long fins. Even slower fish that have decent finnage may be harassed by tigers, they really love attacking anything that flutters near them it seems.
