I have a 4 ft, 65 gal tank with 5 Yo Yo loaches (Botia almorhae), 3 silver dollars (Metynnis argenteus), a leopard gourami (Ctenopoma acutirostre), and 3 pitbull plecos (Parotocinclus jumbo)

I was thinking about adding a pair of Angels would they work with those tank mates and would that be overstocked? I have a penguin 330 bio-wheel filter, and in a couple of months I'll be getting a canister filter for it.

The Plecos is what scares me... They will get VERY large which is why I will refuse to buy them. Most people don't know how large they get until they but them. And that you have three! They will soon outgrow the tank! I would rather have a couple snails such as Rams Horn which don't eat plants and if you find a good breeder of them they will be in a varity of many different colors! And if they try to breed then just talk to your local pet store I'm SURE they would go in a flash!

Other than the Plecos, I think you have a bit of room for some ummm Tetras or even some Danios! Your tank needs a bit of action if you know what I mean. And they will fit your tank color scheme quite well!

How large are the Loaches? I thin k you need more fish in there because with that many Loaches they will eat a lot of uneaten food so, even though I am new at taking care of fishes I know this much! With more fish more of the food will fall to the bottom of the tank and then the Loaches will get it! I hope my advise helped!

The Pitbull plecos only get to be about 2.4 inches long. They're a small pleco but amazing at eating algae. The loaches are still fairly small, one is about 2 inches and the other four are about 1.5 inches. So you dont think I should put a pair of angels in there?

The Silver Dollars might have a nibble at Angels fins and your Gourami may be territorial, but it depends on personality.

Pitbull Plecs do stay small I believe, and the Loaches get to about 5in.
> I would get a shoal of medium sized Tetras such as Rummy-Noses or Serpae or maybe some Rosy Barbs.

How big are the Silver Dollars at the moment??

i think you might want to rehome the Ctenopoma acutirostre because it isn't a gourami. The common name for it is spotted climbing perch. here's some info on it: http://www.fishforums.net/content/Labyrint...otted-Climbing/

one thing that i read about them that isn't in the link is that they get stressed if there is too much going on. a shoal of sd's will stress them out. tetras and barbs would be even worse. however, the perch gets to about 8" over time and has a HUGE mouth so it might just eat the tetras and barbs

Alright thanks for the info. He is still only about 2 inches and hasnt seemed to have any kind of trouble yet, but understandably things can change and you're probably right in that he should be rehomed then. but no one has really answered my question. Would a single or a pair of angels be alright in that tank??

agreeing with rossy about the sd's nibbling. they also get pretty big so i would think the angels wouldn't work because of them. if you rehome the sd's you could easily do the angels and the perch.

this is of course just my opinion. you might want to wait for someone with more exp to either confirm or deny what i think

good luck!

pitbull plecos are fine. they're one of the smallest plecos. only a couple inches full grown.
