Tonight Im setting up his tank, this should be fun...

I dont have any real plants at the moment I have a spare slik one and I brought 4 of these plants "Natural Fern - Suitable for all freshwater aquaria" from Wilko... I open a packet and they are really soft and wouldnt cut him atall. Would these be alright for him ?

I also got a little boat for him and a spongbob garry snail haha. All I have to get now is the coconut cave heater and fliter. I will be getting heater at end of week and getting filter and cocnut today.

if you like the look of them and there is nothing sharp to snag his fins on, then they will be just fine.
have fun setting up your tank!!

They come in 4 different colours and they are cheap. they are alright for the moment intill i get money for live plants. the only thing sharp is the metal ring around the bottom to hold the plant down. But this in going into the sand and wont get anywhere near him lol

I bought a large and 2 small of these from p@h yesterday. I want a java fern, but nowhere round us has them in at the mo. They're all getting deliveries by the weekend. I thought this stuff would do for the time being.
I don't know what the natural fern stuff is, but it's certainly dyed and has tinted the water a bit green, I think. They do fluff up nicely in water though and look pretty :)

So these could be in there all the time? Without doing any harm to the fish ?

I think so. I got the impression they were like plastic plants. Sold alongside them too.

Hi. I know which plants you mean and yes they do stain your water a little bit so make sure u soak them in warm water for a while. Im setting up my tank for my first betta too!! Hel have pygmy cories in there for friends. Good luck and have fun with your set-up!! :D

I found those wilko things disintegrate after a while. The tiny fronds break off and the whole thing starts to look tatty. I soon switched to real plants.

well they are a tempory thing till the real plants come in, will be getting heater end of month and fliter saturday or next week so maybe a 2 weeks time I qill have live plants in there
