The plants I have: ceratopteris (slow growing, no ferts, could use more light though).
The plants I am considering:
Cabomba
or
Hornwort.
I am not sure if the Cera would last with the extra light, it currently seems fine (not ideal condition though, but much better than I've started with).
Can Cabomba get used to a 20W light or does it need more?
What about Hornwort? I've heard that it is a good sponge for nitrate that doesn't require high lighting, but that it eats so much that it eventually starves itself to death and dies or in some cases, it may drop all of its leaves and foul the water fast.
I'm planning on going low tech and I do not want fast growth, but to slowly breed the plants if possible (while using only the materials provided by the fish).
Water stats given by water company for this area:
Hardness 9.01 dgH
Iron 55 mg/l (should be enough iron, right?)
Light bulb stats:
Fluorescent 20W around 80 cm long, 6500K (full spectrum I think). Would that be ok for a low-light planted tank?
