Hi
I think the beginning of this was started elsewhere, but still no improvement.

Strudel, male vt, was being treated for ich. We were using Parazoryne. Before treatment of the ich his dorsal fin had started to look twisted and started sticking together. That was a week ago. Now, all his fins are twisted and stuck together, including his ventrils.

The water stats are - Amm = 0, nitrIte = 0, nitrAte = 10/15, temp = 77.
The tank is 55L with internal filter.
Also in there are cory's and oto's.

He is definately getting worse with regards to his fins, although the ich appears to have cleared up.

Can anyone give advice about what we can do for his fins as his swimming is impared now?

Cheers

hmmmm, ive had this happen before, i used a mirror to excercise his finnage a couple of times a day and they eventually, not straight away started to open back up, mine spent so long all clamped up that it looked like it would be impossible but it worked, dont over do it though, slow and gradual is needed.

Thanks Daz

Its weird really, got no idea why it happened? He's not happy though, he's led on the bottom breathing quite heavily now. Would have liked to have turned the temp up a bit more, but dont think the cory's and oto's would thank me!

Cheers

internal bacterial infection, needs treating. thats what i would say it is, he had the ich and also the internal infection but you treated for the ich as this was the visable sign at the time.

Cheers Daz. Only finished the Parazoryne yesterday so will have to wait to start the Anti-bac i think?? Best get the instructions out and start checking!

Can you put him in a hospital with the antibiotic? and raise the temp a bit?

Hi. Nowhere else to put him.

I didn't start any other meds and got more bubbles in the tank. He is beginning to look much better. His fins are opening and he is swimming around easily. We get him to flare a few times a day and this seems to help.

Cheers guys

Hi guys
Well today Strudels fins are looking brilliant :good: We didn't use any meds or anything, just made sure the water was as good as it could be, cut back on lighting and feeding, increased airiation and used mirror for him to exercise.
He's almost back to his normal self and is following the corys around like he used to :good:

Cheers
