My Kribs had another successful batch of fry!

Not sure how many there is, as I am at college, but my mom said there is quite a bit. Probably not 100 or so, but more than previous batches. I will try to confirm the number when I get home in 2 days!

WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

She is not that much into fish... it is hard enough to get her to feed them!

Yes, I am very excited to get home!

A good breeding Krib pair will have a batch every 2-4 weeks! :hyper:

My mom just called me but I missed the call, so she left a voice message:

My mom says, in a rather stressed voice, "Trent, the daddy fish just ate a baby fish! What should we do? We want him out of there! Should we turn the lights off or take him out? call me back and tell me what to do?"

 I am glad she is concerned for the little guy, but knowing Kribs, I knew right away the male did not eat the baby especially with these two Kribensis having multiple successful batches of fry in the past. So, after I got the voice mail I called her back and told her that Kribensis are one of the most protective fish over fry, and that he was just moving the fry back with the rest of fry. I continued to tell her, that if a baby, at this stage in their life, wonders away from the pack of fry, then either the male or female will pick the fry up and bring it back. Then my mom said, "yeah, the baby did wonder away, and that is when the daddy ate him." I told her that he was just moving the fry.

This made me a laugh a bit.

Well at least you know she is a caring baby sitter - lol

My wife is the same, spends ages staring into the tank counting babies. She even competes with our 2 year old daughter to feed them.........................................but they're my fish of course and she isn't really interested, well that's what she would tell you.

I had my mum here yesterday, she was telling me my convict fry would all be sucked up the filter! its covered and I have raised fry in that tank before with that filter and not lost any up it! Then she told me my frontosa are ugly!!!!

Thanks for the responses!

In a couple hours I will be home checking out the new batch of fry! Oh yeah!

Well, there are only 10 babies... unless I missed some (which is likely in my tank). I had a snail problem in that tank which I think wiped out my last batch of fry, which I counted over 100 eggs.

So I am pretty sure a snail got the best of them? Not sure though? Just a little sad to only see 10. I was hoping for well over 50.

Better luck next time! lol
