Thanks to all the wonderful people on here ive got a thriving tank and im slowly learning everything i need to .... but i find myself asking for advice again i have a wood shrimp carcass on the bottom of my tank i have been told they shed their outer shell and i have to leave it but how do i know its the outer shell and not just a dead shrimp .. it looks light but it has the legs feelers attached still any advice ?? Thanks in advance

If its a shrimp moulted shell, it will be whitish in colour, and does look like a complete but empty shrimp, legs and antenna shapes as well!

Leave for a day, shrimps sometimes eat these as can be full of nutrients and proteins, if uneaten after a day, take it out.

Thats what I do with RCS shells when they moult

Here's an image of a red cherry shrimp moult, everything remains intact on most occasions.

Usually a dead shrimp will turn red, as if it has been cooked. Also with a moulted shell you should be able to see the split where the shrimp exited the old shell.

Oh thanks yea it defo just the shell then thanks for the replys ;)
