so right now i have a 55 gallon that is cycled with just 4 5-6inch bala sharks, i was wondering if red taled sharks would work with these guys?

and i just cycled my 40 gallon and have two happy firemouths in there :D

That tank is way to small for bala sharks so no I wouldn't add anymore large fish.
Bala shark need at least 90 gallon tanks.

really? 3/4 of the tank is open for swimming space, with the bottem with rocks so they can hide and ect.. even for just the 3 balas the tank is to small?

This is the problem members don't research the fish before they buy them.
Some sites even say 125 gallons for bala sharks.
You could add some smaller fish.

no i think i better just leave them, if they need a tank that big..maybe i cant talk my mom into a 200 gallon! haha that will take like an year or 2 tho ahha

Ok, good luck.

Honestly, its not about the fact they get large. Many 12 inch fish are capable of living in a 55. The problem is that they are VERY skittish, VERY active, and need 3+ to be happy, they shoal/school like cories. They need 6 feet of swimming room for a group of them to enjoy. You'd have no problem adding other fish, as its not about the waste or anything, just how active they are.

Some people say 8 x 3ft min for a school of silver sharks aka balas. Seriously. I'd return them, you'll only have to rehome them when they get bigger - which might be tricky ;)

so i have just took then back, my tank is empy, with just an common plec in it now, but i am planning on doing an mduna setup once i get the money for it..
