hey i was just wondering if i could get a quick opinion here. iv got a 55 gal. medium planted tank with - 2x angelfish, 2x gold gourami, 2x bolivian ram, 4x khuli loaches, and a rainbow shark. now i dont think that im at capacity yet, and was wondering if i could get a small school (4-5) of a little fish, somsort of a tetra or somthing. any ideas?

You can get 6 ot 10 tetras considering the large size tank you have and just a suggestion you can get long finned black tetras or regular blacktetras.

Yes, it's true that that you can get some of the larger tetras. But don't try to reach your stocking limits. Be understocked, it makes the fish much happier.

you could certainly keep larger tetras as those mentionned. Don't get anything too small though, like neons, as they will end up being an expensive Angel snack for you :)

I don't know what type filtration you have but based on my calculations, you are pretty close to stocked. I have some angels but none of the other fish so I'm not sure how messy they are. I use this site for fish profiles and based on it, you have about 48" of adult fish now. If you have good filtration (at least 350 pgh) you can probably add 6 tetras (9" to 15" total). That would probably put you a little over the 1" per gallon guide but would probably not cause you a major problem.

I always felt if one has to ask "if I'm at capacity" you already had when you picked up the last batch. I suppose some of us forget that some fish do get bigger and not think about this whan you're looking at a half inch (insert name here) fish at the shops. Then again it's a good ploy to buy a bigger tank for said fish later.
