So I found out a few days ago that the local fish club "cafe" (Columbus Area Fish Enthusiasts) Is havinging thier fall auction saturday. They have 2 of these a year where members and the general public can come in and buy or sell fish/plants/equipment. I am hoping to find some of the ciclids I am looking for cheaper then the LFS and maybe some nice plants or some Bichir!

I doubt we have to many Ohio folks on the forums but I wanted to share because it looks to be a lot of fun. I am still debateing on taking the 3 baby blue lobsters I missed when I bagged up my last batch. Or maybe some of my wifes guppys and platys since the tank is over crowded. :D

Auctions are a blast! Here's a link for CAFE auction info; http://www.columbusfishclub.org/auction_fall.php

This time of year I'm at an auction or swap nearly every weekend, my club has an auction Sunday; http://www.gwasoc.org/forum/index.php?/topic/278-auction-information/

Eastern Iowa's auction is today as well, St. Louis has a swap tomorrow. Next weekend is Milwaukee's auction, the weekend after is Peoria & SW Michigan's auction on Saturday, you might be interested in this one on Sunday, Oct 16th, http://www.yatfs.com/

So we had an awsome time at the auction. walked away with.
1 medium clown pleco (4inch)
1 Albino bristlenose pleco (6inches)
1 albino longfin(highfin?) Pleco(5inches)
4 Acai ciclids (3-4 inches)
4 Yellow labs (3-4 inches)
1 very large can of shrimp pellets
1 10 gallon tank with lid
1 5.5 gallon tank with lid
1 bag with about 15 runners of clover

All told I spent 53 dollars so I feel like I made out a bandit last week I saw a smaller version of the long fined pleco at aquarium adventure for like 40 dollars. I paid 6 for him the other albino and the can of shrimp pellets. 8 dollars on the labs. I think 9 on the Acai. So in the end it saved me a bundle :p. And I now have a 5 gallon hospital tank and a 10 gallon for my male lobster.

They sold like 10 discus for 15-20 dollars a piece. I saw a bag of 10 baby yellow labs go for 1 dollar :p

anted to show off the plecos

they are hard to get good pics of :-/ almost as bad as my dempsy.

Sounds like some great deals! With auctions it's generally get there early for the best fish, stick around late for the best deals. If you know how to play it you can make some decent money as a seller, and get some great deals as a buyer.

The woman next to me had a box of fish. I figure she has a shop some where. She baught 30 + yellow labs at 1-2 dollars per 10. I would have liked to stay the entire auction but we had places to be. We stayed 5 hours and they still had 3-4 hours of stuff left.

If I can get a realy good shot of the long finned Pleco I will FoTM him his fins look like wedding gown lace when they are extended.
