My paratilapia polleni have given me a christmas present, lets hope i can come through the next week with no problems, excited but trying not to raise my hopes up. They laid inside the flower pot but again moved eggs out.
I separated some of the eggs into the egg tumbler tonight (and remembered note to myself to put in different tank after the male attacked it last time and got eggs out and ate them) and placed some black paper on parents tank to give them some privacy with the eggs i left. I got bitten by the male as tryed to separate the eggs, dont blame him i would have done the same if someone grabed my kids lol.

I really do hope i can show you photos of fry, but feeling very negative about getting that far

Wow they're stunning, I want some!
If you do succeed in breeding them, which I am sure you will, I would be interested in the fry!

Oooo, good luck! I'd love to see you with some fry. Fortunately papa doesn't have large teeth, or you'd be in trouble.

Stunning fish. What sixe tank are they in, and how much were they? Good luck!!!!!!!!

they are in a 4 footer on there own while i try to breed them, if they do breed i want to get a 6ft for them and keep them with frontosa or other madagascans if i can source some, wildwoods have some paretroplus maculatus at the moment which i have my eye on but p. menarambo are my next must haves lol..
As for price i got this pair free from this lady who contacted me (polleni)after i put some feelers out after another member posted a photo of these fish on this forum, they were so beautiful so i researched them and when i realised they were endangered i just had to have them (i hate the fact that such amazing fish could disapear from the planet) .I have seen a couple around one sold for £20 the other £70, but afew of the dedicated fishkeepers i have come in contact with since obtaining this pair give madagascan fry for free to try and keep the fish in circulation

this morning the pair ate the eggs but the ones i have in the egg tumbler look about to hatch, if they do it will be the best christmas pressie nothing could even come close lol.
My question is as this egg tumbler lark is new to me, how long do i leave them in there after they hatch, will the high air volume damage the fry?

Just to amuse you This is my effort of an egg tumbler i had to quickly throw together from odds and ends around the house, i must get a better design going but for the time being it seems to be doing its job lol

Hope this helps:
And even once their heads and tails have "popped out," I still would encourage you to tumble the eggs (perhaps a little less vigorously) until the fry can move around a bit. But for sure, once the fry are "free-swimming," tumbling is no longer necessary. At this point, the fry will still have their egg sac, which will take several more days to be completely absorbed. This egg sac contains their food source so you shouldn't feed them until this is gone.
