Will This Survive Or Die

so if i do get rasboras, they just prefer live plants right? they dont have to have them to survive, im not sure as to how to take care of a planted tank. so im just thinking about cutting down the chances of me doing something seriously wrong and killing off my whole tank. also can i pick up anything on a walk and use it? i know i have to boil and scrub it but what else must be done to make sure its safe for use?

A few easy plants don't need much TLC, most fish prefer live plants as they always provide a bit of food and well, I don't know. No fish needs plants to survive, as far as i'm aware of. Just have a quick browse around the planted section of this forum. You don't need to do anything to your tank, unless you are wanting to go planted on a pretty much full scale. Just make sure they get light throughout the day, also i'd rather turn my lights off at night, otherwise you could risk a fire or them burning out. I know that my controller thing does get very hot during the day, and the tube has event burnt my condensation tray before. Feel free to PM me or post here if you have anymore questions.
